MECAR, Finmap and Fauna and Flora International have recently discussed the possibility for a joint feasibility study on REDD+ project in Cambodia. More information will be posted when it becomes available.
With JANUS Co., Ltd., MECAR started the feasibility study project on bioenergy production from natural grasses and forests from August 2011 to March 2012. The output of the FS would be a 50 MW CDM project. More information will be announced when it becomes available.
On July 5, 2011, Mekong Carbon Co., Ltd. (MECAR) and JANUS Co., Ltd. (Japan) signed MoU at MECAR’s head office in Phnom Penh. Both parties agreed to build business partnership for carbon and related projects in Cambodia. Our priority area for 2011 is to develop carbon projects by managing pig farms and natural resources.

MECAR is pleased to announce that we have identified 3 potential project sites for CDM project development. They are two animal farms and one bioenergy site (the later from natural resources). MECAR has contacted the site owners and received their pledge to cooperate. More information will be posted when it becomes available.
